About this tour

This trip starts from Phnom Penh, from where you will travel to the northeast of Cambodia, an area without many tourists. Your first stop will be Kratie. Here you can, with a little luck, spot Irawaddy dolphins. From here you travel to Banlung, the base for your trekking in the Virachey National Park. For 2 days you will trek through this park, with jungle, mountains and rivers. You spend the night in a hammock, under the stars.  After the trekking you travel on to Stung Treng. From here you make a trip to the Mekong wateralls on the border with Laos.

Where

If you want to be active during your trip in Cambodia then this trip with the 2-day trekking in the National Park Virachey is a nice addition to the temples of Angkor. Via Kratie, a place on the Mekong River where,  with a little luck you can spot dolphins, you travel to the northeast, to the place Banlung (Ratanakiri). Here you make a 2-day trekking through the largest national park of the country, Virachey. Finally, travel further north, to the border with Laos. Here is a beautiful area with waterfalls and a sunken forest. 

Itinerary

Day 1

Phnom Penh to Kratie | Travel by car from Phnom Penh to Kratie. En route, you stop at old Wat Hanchey. Afternoon cycling on Koh Trong Island.

Day 2

Kratie to Ratanakiri | From Kratie via Kampi (Irawaddy dolphins) to Banlung (Ratanakiri).

Day 3

Ratanakiri - trekking | Start today with the 2-day trekking. Overnight stay is in under the stars near a waterfall.

Day 4

Trekking | Another walking day today. At the end of the trekking swimming at Koh Pong Island. By boat back to the civilization.

Day 5

Ratanakiri to Stung Treng | From Banlung you travel to the northwest, to Stung Treng, not far from Laos.

Day 6

Stung Treng | Today you make a trip on a small boat to some beautiful waterfalls and a drowned forest in the Mekong River on the Lao-Cambodian border.

Day 7

Stung Treng to Siem Reap | Back to Siem Reap today by car, or maybe you want to continue to Laos..... .

The price of this trip is based on 2 persons, low season, depending on availability of the planned hotels and including CO2 compensation.
